Bergen Smokey

Activities Director – Smokey
Smokey decided to move in with Dr.Deb’s father until she was ready to start her full –time career at Blue Cross Animal Hospital. She takes her duties very seriously and makes sure everyone has a chance to pet her at the back counter where she spends 99% of her time warming her cat bed. Her hobbies include playing hide and seek, drinking from the toilet, and making the staff toss toys to her (as she lays in her bed).

Hall Monitor – Bergen
Bergen started her spy duties at Blue Cross in 2003. She likes to peek around corners to see what she is missing or who might be talking about her (and when feeding time is). She spends her spare time sleeping in private and practicing her “who me?” look.

Dr. Deb Hlavka is a University of Minnesota graduate and has been at Blue Cross since 1982. She is owned by two miniature dachshunds and a cat. In her spare time she enjoys gardening with the dogs “help”, reading, and doing crossword puzzles (that’s why the puzzle is always missing from the paper in the lobby).

Dr. Aimee Meyer graduated from the U of M and moved to a small town in rural Vermont where she treated farm animals as well as domestic pets. After two years she came back to Minnesota and started at Blue Cross in 2001. In her spare time she likes to sail, cross country ski, and practice yoga. She shares her home with 3 cats and a part-time dog.

Dr. Kristi Flynn, also a U of M grad, has been at Blue Cross since 2006. She has 3 intelligent dogs, 2 wonderful cats, and the occasional foster dog. She spends much of her free time working with her dogs using positive reinforcement training. Volunteer work for animals has been a big part of her life, before and after becoming a doctor. Non-animal related activities include camping and gardening.

Dr. Kathleen Mc Junkin was a clinical laboratory scientist before getting her DVM degree at the U of M. She came to Blue Cross in 2007. Her many interests include quilting, crocheting, baking, golfing, and skiing. She shares her house with two dogs and a cockatiel.

Practice Manager – Vikki
As a Certified Veterinary Technician, Vikki worked in private practice, emergency medicine at the U of M, and corporate medicine before coming to Blue Cross in 1998. Her pack of critters include two dogs and three cats, most were stray or rescued. Her spare time is spent working on remodeling her house, gardening, walking, and sudoku puzzles.
